Overview

This interactive and engaging training course is a masterclass in the most important aspects of management and leadership in the context of a public sector that is facing the challenges of adapting to the expectations and missions of new governments, the potential of new technology for service delivery, and diverse service user needs. Day one focuses on a “management and leadership triangle” that provides a core foundation for management and leadership roles at all levels, and in a wide variety of contexts. It covers three areas where leaders at all levels can benefit from improving further. We will explore the overlap and differences between management and leadership and how your leadership style needs to adapt to different situations. Then we will address how to set clear objectives, support people’s motivation, and give and receive constructive feedback. These are three areas that can make a massive difference to the perception of your performance as a manager and leader.

On day two, we will look at how data and digital transformation could improve policy development and service delivery and explore four key aspects of leadership that will enhance your ability to lead teams in this new context. We will consider how to lead teams, fostering the spirit of collaborative effort, wherever you and your colleagues are situated. We will address what it means to be a strategic leader. We will explore how you can better lead people through change. And we will consider how you can be a catalyst for continuous improvement as a leader.

Who is the seminar designed for?

This very practical course is designed both for experienced managers and leaders, as well as for those new to management, or who aspire to a leadership role in future. It will provide insights and best practice that will develop your skills further whatever your existing level of experience or seniority. It addresses the core ingredients of successful management and leadership, with an emphasis on effective communication. As well as helping those with line management responsibility, it will also enhance the people management skills that you need for managing projects, for supporting digital transformation, and for leading organisations and teams through change.

How will you benefit from attending?

By attending this training, you will develop a range of success skills that will help you as a leader and manager. As well as supporting your own skills development, the event will examine practical ways to help you to communicate better, build trust and collaboration, and help you to motivate those you lead.
