Visualising Data to Influence Public Sector Stakeholders – 28 April 2025

£250.00

Writing a compelling business case as a civil servant enables you secure the necessary funding and support for your policy, project or change initiative so as to deliver better outcomes. A good business case can ensure that a project is aligned with the organisation’s strategy, that it delivers public value, and that it can be delivered successfully by the organisation and its partners. Change initiatives will fail at the first hurdle if the business case fails to convince senior decision makers of the return on investment.  As well as securing approval to start design and delivery, a business case should also be regarded as working document which must be reviewed and revisited.

Description

To get real value out of data it needs to be presented in a compelling way to senior leaders, stakeholders, colleagues, and members of the public. This can be a challenging process, as it requires assessing the needs and data literacy of your audience, making critical selections about charts and other visual styles, and applying design skills to ensure the story stands out. This seminar will give you a repeatable framework for turning data insights into persuasive visual stories for slide decks, reports, dashboards and other formats. It will introduce simple and effective design techniques that can be applied using the software you already have access to.
