Writing a compelling business case as a civil servant enables you secure the necessary funding and support for your policy, project or change initiative so as to deliver better outcomes. A good business case can ensure that a project is aligned with the organisation’s strategy, that it delivers public value, and that it can be delivered successfully by the organisation and its partners. Change initiatives will fail at the first hurdle if the business case fails to convince senior decision makers of the return on investment.  As well as securing approval to start design and delivery, a business case should also be regarded as working document which must be reviewed and revisited.

This course is designed to enable you to write a robust business case with a better chance of being approved.

This course is for people at all levels of the civil service working in policy and related areas of work, in government and elsewhere, who need to improve their understanding of how to make the case for a policy, project or programme and to communicate that business case effectively.
