Wanted: senior procurement specialist in Republic of Congo

The World Bank is looking for a senior procurement specialist with fluent French to work at its Governance Global Practice (GGP) in Brazzaville, capital of the Republic of Congo.
The GGP supports countries in building open, effective and accountable institutions for inclusive development.
The post is advertised as pay grade GG, which is the fourth most senior level in the organisation’s professional and technical work stream.
The new hire would provide procurement advice and support at the Africa Unit (West and Central) of GGP’s Public Integrity and Openness (PIO) department, which helps governments and non-governmental organisations improve and modernise their procurement and information systems.
The role involves providing technical advice on procurement fiduciary activities and leading policy dialogue on procurement with client governments; supporting governments in achieving value for money in public procurement; creating the space for procurement and governance innovation to happen; and facilitating global platforms to share knowledge and practices across the world.
The ideal candidate would be organised, energetic and “combine a deep understanding of project procurement in different sectors,” according to the job ad.
He or she would also “have demonstrated operational and analytic skills and possess strong knowledge and understanding of project procurement management.”
Fluency in French is required, the ad states, which also lists an MA, MS or any advanced degree with a major in a relevant discipline such as engineering, law, procurement, finance, business or commerce, plus at least eight years of relevant work experience as selection criteria.
Asked for details on the position’s wage, a World Bank spokesperson said that “salaries are dependent upon interview feedback and ratings, including proper assessment of the relevant years of work experience of applicants” and referred Global Government Forum to its grade level chart.
However, a 2014 Review of Staff Compensation for the World Bank Group, states that a World Bank employee in pay grade GG would earn between US$105,700 and US$196,300 per annum.
Applications are open until 6 December.
